Is The K-Meleon Browser Really Lightweight & Fast?

If there is one thing that I am always on the hunt for, it’s a faster browser. I absolutely hate waiting for webpages to load. If I can find a browser that will load a page 3 seconds faster, I’ll migrate over to it, no questions asked. This comes from being a long-time, loyal user of the Firefox browser. As most of you know, Firefox has turned into an absolute beast, and got bogged down in terms of speed over the years.

Pendule – A Neat Web Developer Plugin [Chrome]

I do quite a bit of Web development, and Google Chrome is my main browser these days. Chrome is pretty developer-friendly as it is, and you can also set up Firebug on Chrome. But today I wanted to show you a different Chrome extension called Pendule. Pendule supplements Chrome’s built-in Inspect Element feature with some interesting extras.

Use exAutoCorrect To Make Spell Checking Gmail Faster & Easier [Chrome]

One of the great things about typing into a word processor like Microsoft Word or Apple Pages is that they automatically fix common spelling mistakes. While most web browsers have come a long way with spell checking, they still do not include auto-correct. Some spelling mistakes are so common that just underlining them seems pointless.

2 Tools To Load The Lyrics Next To Music Clips On YouTube [Chrome]

Do you love watching music clips on YouTube? More and more pop stars and groups have been creating official YouTube channels where you can find their latest music clips. If you love listening to music, the chances are you love singing as well. While you can find millions of music clips on YouTube that you can watch, very often it’s hard to make out the exact lyrics.

Firefox 7: Your New, Memory Efficient Browser

Another six weeks or so have passed and a new version of Firefox has yet again been released, thanks to the development schedule that Mozilla has now set into overdrive. As mentioned in my article about the Firefox 6 release, the developers over at Mozilla are hard at work making the browser more efficient, with a primary goal titled Project MemShrink.

4 Extensions & Services For Easier & Safer Online Dating [Chrome]

Dating has gone digital. Once considered a realm inhabited only by the socially awkward, online dating is now just another tool in the toolbox, no matter whether you’re looking for a hook-up or your soulmate. Still, there are some disadvantages. You never know who you’re going to end up meeting, and sometimes your match isn’t who you thought they were.

Use AppJump To Manage Your Google Chrome Apps

If you are a Chrome user and have lots of apps installed, you will know how much of a pain it can be to manage all those apps. I also find it to be kind of a cumbersome task to launch a new tab to get to the screen where the apps live. I wish there was a way an app could be launched like an extension. I wish there was some way to keep my apps more organized and maybe even group them together somehow.

How To Remove The Facebook News Ticker & Fixed Header [Chrome]

As most of you are probably aware, Facebook has been undergoing a few changes lately. Okay, maybe more than a few, but at any rate, the platform is changing. I know there are a lot of you out there that can’t stand even the minor tweaks that have been made by Facebook. If you happen to be a Google Chrome user, I’m about to buy you a little time.

3 Color Picker Add-Ons For Web Designers & Graphic Artists [Firefox]

Eyedroppers and color pickers can work outside a mammoth graphic tool like Photoshop and CorelDraw. Most of these tools are small and portable. But today, we will diverge from desktop color picking tools and look at five browser based ones. After all, a graphic artist can take his inspiration from anywhere…and if it’s anywhere online, a few very useful Firefox add-ons could come real handy.

Use Xbox Live Dashboard To Keep Track Of Your Friends From Google Chrome

Xbox Live is arguably the most popular online gaming platform, and for me personally, it is the one where I do almost all of my online gaming. Since Xbox Live is such a social gaming platform, it isn’t just about getting on and playing games. Sending messages and seeing what your friends are up to is just as integral a part of Xbox Live as actually playing the games.

Are Ad Blocking Browser Extensions Killing The Internet?

One of the reasons for the Internet’s surge in popularity is the cost of most online content – or rather, the lack of cost. That’s not to say the content is free, however. Almost every site is supported by advertisements (including MakeUseOf), and sites are paid for displaying them either per-click or, in some cases, via a flat monthly fee.

2+ Browser Add-Ons That Will Help You Find What You’re Looking For (On A Page)

Searching is the most basic tool on the Web. And we are not even talking about Google. Remember when we had to read every word to find a single keyword? Sophisticated as they both are, Chrome’s and Firefox’s search options are somewhat lacking. Here are two add-ons that will help you make the most of these browsers’ search option. More importantly, they will help you find what you’re looking for.

Two Ways To Sneak A Peek At Videos While You’re Working

Watching videos is fun. OK, let’s face it, it’s addictive. But unfortunately, there are some other things we have to do. We can’t always watch videos – or can we? What if you could watch videos and work? What if there was some unobtrusive way for you to have videos somewhere on your screen, where they are watchable but still do whatever it is you’re doing?

How To Hide Google Plus Message Count Icon From All Google Services

Google has been introducing new and new features for ages and it has started changing actively especially recently. Google is well-known for pushing their new features too hard. And the worst thing about that is that Google never makes it easy to opt out of its new features. The same goes about the actively promoted Google Plus platform.

Clip Web Page Notes from Firefox to Word with Notesaver!

Some people choose to bookmark all the pages that they find temporarily useful for whatever project they may be working on, while others go through the long, common processes. Going to the page in Firefox, copying it, opening Word, pasting the content into Word, and then saving it. You can shortcut this process by using Notesaver, a Firefox add-on.

Give Your Mind Maps The Hand Drawn Look With Connected Mind [Chrome]

Are you searching for a simple mind mapping tool that is more traditional in the way it uses non-linear lines and asymmetric shapes? The Chrome Web Store has a handful of mind mapping tools. The choice gets limited further because some like Mindmeister are commercial. A search through the free ones, revealed the well-reviewed Connected Mind.

What Is HTTPS & How To Enable Secure Connections Per Default

Security concerns are spreading far and wide and have reached the forefront of most everybody’s mind. Terms like antivirus or firewall are no longer strange vocabulary and are not only understood, but also used by the masses. Most people also understand that sensitive information, such as credit card numbers or address data, should be transmitted using a secure connection.

3 Tools To Monitor Google’s “Past 24 Hours” Search Results

Google offers quite a few options to monitor recent news and updates. We have Google Alerts, Google News and Google Blog Search. However, sadly, none of these options are perfect and so therefore the best way to monitor recent pages indexed by Google around your search term is to scan daily through “Past 24 hours” results.

4 Free Sports Games To Play In Google Chrome

Sports games are a very popular genre for any gaming platform. For Chrome right now there doesn’t seem to be a lot of sports games out there, but there are some that are good. There are games from many of the major sports, but some of them are just terrible. For all you sports fans out there I have dug through the trenches of the Chrome Web Store to find the sports games that are actually worth checking out.

How To Optimize FireFox Addons Bar To Claim More Space

The Add-on Bar was introduced in FireFox 4 and replaced the Status bar. The status bar was primarily removed to make the most of the browser real estate- which makes many of us wonder why the newly introduced Add-on bar is absolutely un-optimized in terms of saving the browser screen space. Three addons attempt to fix that shortcoming.

How To Mute Sound On Webpages With Embedded Audio Or Flash

It happens to all of us. We love using browser tabs to open more and more links in the background and then go through them one by one. However it is really irritating when some of the tabs in the background auto-play video or audio files which interferes with what you are currently listening to or which distracts you from your normal browsing or working routine.
